About Us

EHH has links back to the formative days of FLEA and Socius in Daejeon and more recent work in the community of Asan and a recent focus on supporting a development program for a Mhung Refugee Camp in Thailand. Basically it has always been about expats in Korea helping people—often informally and commonly spontaneously.

With the catastrophic oil spill off the west coast on December 7th and with personal ties by many in our little group to the people of Padori Beach, who have just had their lives turned inside-out, it seemed natural to organize a response and create a vehicle through which expats could offer a helping hand.

What became immediately apparent is that expats all over the Korean peninsula are keen to help as well, but in many cases with no clear path as to how to do that. Hopefully we are clearing a path here and now.

In the end, it won’t be the only path, but for now we encourage folks to use the path if they are motivated to get involved.

We can be reached through this website, either leave a comment or email us directly at expat.helpinghands@gmail.com.Thanks for you interest in helping.

  1. Hats off to the folks who went over to Padori to give real community assistance. Labor intensive work in the cold is not an easy job, but some people see a need and respond. Nice article in the paper, by the way. I am checking your website from here in Maine while we are visiting. Keep up the good work!

    Cheers, Layne
